If you’ve been worried about the damage that traditional cosmetics can do to your skin and body, you may want to check out Pure & Simple, a skin care outlet that sells skin care products using natural organic ingredients. Pure & Simple sells its own line of natural products, as well as natural cosmetics brand names including Just Pure, Naturopathica and Martina Gebhardt, Dr. Hauschka, Jurlique and Jane Iredale. Pure & Simple’s product prices are no more than what you would pay for top line traditional cosmetics such as Lancome or NARS, yet it’s knowing what you are putting on your skin that will make you feel better.

For those of you with sensitive skin and/or rosacea, shopping for a moisturizer that does not aggravate your skin can be a challenge. Jurlique’s Calendula Cream, which Pure & Simple sells for $41 (40 ml), is a soothing moisturizer that calms sensitive skin without being thick or greasy. If your skin breaks out at the thought of applying make-up, you’ll definitely want to check out Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, which are made without fillers, chemical dyes or preservatives. Jane Iredale’s Pure Pressed Base is $57 and acts as a foundation, powder and concealer. The texture of the pressed base is slightly creamier than a traditional powder and it glides on the skin quite easily. Jane Iredale make-up does not block pores and presents no allergy risks so if break-outs or rashes are a problem, this make-up is for you. For a hand cream par none, check out Dr. Hauschka’s, selling for $26 (50 ml). This cream has an aromatic scent from essential oils and does not need to be re-applied after handwashing like so many other cheaper hand creams.

Pure & Simple not only sells natural skin care products, they also provide wonderful facials and skin treatments by European-trained technicians using products with natural organic ingredients. A classic facial is $74 while the more intensive Extreme Clean Deep Pore Facial is $99. You probably won’t find a better facial in the city. Check out their website as they often advertise specials on their facial treatments and products.
