The Beaches International Jazz Festival wraps up this weekend with free performances by acclaimed jazz artists at the OLG Main Stage at Kew Gardens from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, 2011. The Rockit 88 Band, playing on Sunday, July 24 at 2 p.m. plays classic blues and country rock and features Beaches International Jazz Festival art director Bill King on piano. For a taste of the Afro-Cuban percussion sound, check out The Iroko Project, which opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Bring your fold-up chairs if you have them as you may find you want to stay awhile. The forecast for this weekend is in the mid-30s so don’t pass on the hats and sunscreen. There is a licensed beer garden on site, food concession stands, portable washrooms, as well as vendors selling crafts and jewellery.
Kew Gardens is located at Queen Street East and Lee Avenue.
