Fall 2011 fashion trends are turning their backs on typical autumn earthy shades and opting instead for bright colours including vivid oranges, eye-popping purples, gorgeous jade greens, teasing teals and roaring reds. The fall 2011 colour palette has spilled over into shoes, with many shoe retailers including several red shoe styles among the fall 2011 season’s hot pumps, peep toes and even boots.
Banana Republic’s red pump, part of their Mad MenĀ® collection, retails for $120 and can be paired with a black or charcoal grey skirt or dress to add the wow factor. The shoe makes such a vivid statement on its own so you don’t want to overdo it by wearing anything other than a neutral colour on your top. You can add a fine print scarf with a touch of red if you want a more pulled together look.
If the Wizard of Oz if your favourite movie and you’ve been dying for a pair of Dorothy’s ruby slippers, check out the red glitter shoes at Nine West this fall retailing for $130. The shoe’s kitten heel gives it a classic line, which would look fabulous with a pair of black dress pants or one of this season’s hot 60s mini-dresses for a night out on the town.

Give them their marching orders in these self-indulgent red leather boots by Miz Mooz available at Town Shoes for $255. These boots have buttons up the side giving them a military look and would look great paired with Aritzia’s black military coat. They would also work well worn with skinny jeans and a parka.
If four-inch pumps threaten to put your back out of alignment for the next few months, then Nine West’s red patent leather wedge shoes may be right up your alley. Retailing for $120, these shoes are comfortable without sacrificing elegance due to the sophistication of the shoe’s softly rounded toe and elongated line.
For an elegant look at the office, choose the red suede flats at Brown’s Shoes. The two-toned upper and bow provide a distinctive look that is a bit more upscale than a ballet shoe and is perfect for the boardroom. The flats sell for $198.
