Country music artist Shelby Lynne will be releasing her new CD, Revelation Road, at a concert at Toronto’s Hugh’s Room on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 8:30 p.m. If you’ve never heard Shelby Lynne sing, you’re in for a treat; Lynne has a blistering vocal range and a raw, honest delivery and it’s beyond mystifying why she isn’t yet a household name despite having been voted Best New Artist at the 2000 Grammy Awards. Lynne’s soulful voice easily wraps itself around traditional country music, alternative country, blues and ballads. Venturing into the acting arena, Lynne appeared in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line, in which she was cast as Cash’s mother. Not too many singers have the vocal talent to record Dusty Springfield’s epic tunes, but Lynne did just that in 2008 when she released Just a Little Lovin’, putting her own bluesy mark on these classics. If you’re lucky, she might pull “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” out of her songbag at her Hugh’s Room appearance. In 2010, Lynne released her more recent album, Tears, Lies and Alibis, to positive reviews. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door.
