
After all of the Christmas, Hanukkah and other seasonal celebrations in December, you may be looking forward to a low-key New Year’s Eve 2013 spent with family or friends. An evening at home with a gourmet dinner, videos and games or going skating at Toronto’s outdoor skating rinks may be just as ambitious as you want to get. If you’re not heading out to a Toronto New Year’s Eve party this year, but still want to go out and celebrate New Year’s Eve 2013, you may enjoy the following Toronto events, many of which are family friendly activities.
Toronto Zoo’s New Year’s Eve 2013
Toronto Zoo’s 11th Annual New Year’s Eve Family Countdown includes visits with the animals at the Tundra Trek and Indo-Malaya Pavillion, the Majinx magic show, the Decades, food and entertainment on Tues., Dec. 31, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Kids’ New Year’s Eve countdown is at 8 p.m. at the front entrance. This is an outdoor event with limited space. Adults and Seniors $20, Children (3-12) $12 and Children 2 and under Free (must have a ticket).
New Year’s Eve 2013 Comedy Extravaganza at Massey Hall
Welcome 2014 with a belly laugh by attending the New Year’s Eve Comedy Extravaganza at Massey Hall on Tues., Dec. 31, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Jeremy Hotz will host the show, which will feature comedians Jessica Kirson, Dave Merheje, Mike MacDonald and other comedians. Music by Jaymz Bee and Bonzai Suzuki. Tickets for New Year’s Eve at Massey Hall are $39.50, $49.50, $59.50 and $69.50.
Second City New Year’s Eve 2013
Toronto’s Second City comedy troupe performs We Can Be Heroes, sketches and songs lauding everyday heroes. Second City performances on  Tues., Dec. 31, 2013 are at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $55 plus tax and $60 plus tax plus a $2 service charge; dinner/show packages with Wayne Gretzky’s Restaurant next door are also available for $49 per person. Book the Wayne Gretzky dinner package through the Second City box office or website.

New Year’s Eve 2013 at Nathan Phillips Square
The 29th Annual Chevrolet City New Year’s Eve Celebration at Nathan Phillips Square features performances by DJ Clymaxxx, Fat Head and God Made Me Funky. Enjoy street food from Food Trucks on site. Head for the live broadcast starting at 8 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 31, 2013.
The Little Mermaid at the Elgin Theatre
Ross Petty Productions presents The Little Mermaid at the Elgin Theatre, 189 Yonge Street, starring Chilina Kennedy, Ross Petty and Dan Chameroy. A New Year’s Eve 2013 performance takes place on Tues., Dec. 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $32, $73, $84 and $94.
