For many residents, the holiday would be lacking without attending Christmas Eve church services in Toronto, followed by refreshments enjoyed around the Christmas tree. While most Toronto churches offer services on Sunday, December 24, 2018, the following large churches offer several Christmas Eve services.
St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral
St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral at 200 Church Street, just north of Shuter Street, 416-364-0234, showcases its gorgeous renovation for the Christmas 2017 season. St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral offers several Christmas Eve church services on Sun., Dec. 24, 2017 including Christmas Eve mass with the Elementary Choir at 5 p.m., carols with the St. Michael’s Choir School Senior Choir at 7 p.m., Christmas Eve mass with the Senior Choir at 8 p.m., carols with the St. Michael’s Choir School Senior Choir at 11 p.m. and Christmas Eve Vigil mass with the Senior Choir and Archbishop Thomas Cardinal Collins at midnight.
Christmas Eve Services at St. Paul’s Anglican Church
St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 227 Bloor St. W., between Church St. and Ted Rogers Way (formerly Jarvis St.), will hold a Quiet Christmas Eve communion service on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 at 11 a.m., a 4 p.m. Christmas Eve service for families and children, a 7:30 p.m. Classic Christmas Eve service and a Classic Christmas Eve service at 10:30 p.m. Christmas music performances take place at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Christmas Eve Services at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church
Yorkminster Park Baptist Church at 1585 Yonge Street (two blocks north of St. Clair Ave.), 416-922-1167, will be holding their Bethlehem on Yonge Christmas Eve service at 2 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 and a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 11 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Peter Holmes featuring the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church choir.
Christmas Eve Services at St. James’ Cathedral
With the oldest congregation in Toronto, St. James Cathedral, the episcopal seat of the Diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada is located at 65 Church Street at King St. E., 416-364-7865. This Gothic Revival church will hold Christmas Eve services on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. with a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and at 7:30 p.m. with a Choral Eucharist and Procession to the Creche.

Christmas Eve Services at. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
Located at 73 Simcoe Street just west of King St. W. and University Ave., 416-593-5600, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will be holding a 7 p.m. Christmas Eve Family Service of Lessons and Carols that will include a brass band, St. Andrew’s Choir and organ and an 11 p.m. Sacrament of Holy Communion Christmas Eve candlelight service on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 that includes the St. Andrew’s Choir and organ.
Christmas Eve Services at St. Basil’s Catholic Church
The third oldest Catholic church in Toronto, St. Basil’s at 50 St. Joseph Street (two blocks north of Wellesley St. W.), 416-926-7110, will hold a family mass on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 at 5 p.m., a Parish mass at 7 p.m., a carol service at 11:30 p.m. and midnight mass at 12 a.m.
Christmas Eve Services at Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church
Located at 427 Bloor St. W. at Robert Street (just west of Spadina Ave.), 416-922-8435, Trinity St. Paul’s United Church will host a Christmas Eve family service on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. (joint service with Bloor Street United Church).
Christmas Eve Services at Metropolitan United Church
One of the largest churches of the United Church of Canada, Metropolitan United Church at 56 Queen St. E., 416-363-0331, offers a Christmas Eve live nativity on the steps with live animals from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a candlelight communion service from 11 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018.
