If you’re like most people after the holidays, you’re going to have to tighten the purse strings in January and maybe even February. If you’re on the hunt for cheap or free events in Toronto for yourself or for your kids during the holiday break, the Toronto Public Library’s got your back. The Barbara Frum Library branch is screening new release movies throughout the winter including Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. The movie is up for four Golden Globe awards (to be held January 15, 2012) including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Director, Best Actor (Wilson) and Best Screenplay. The Ides of March, directed and co-written by and starring George Clooney, as well as Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti, will be screened on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Barbara Frum Library. The film is also nominated for four Golden Globe Awards. More free movie screenings in February and March will be announced soon.
