If you’ve been thinking of purchasing a recreational vehicle and hitting the road, you’ll want to check out the Toronto RV Show and Extravaganza taking place this weekend from January 19 to 23, 2012 at the Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd. (just east of Hwy 27). You’ll see over 500 RVs on display, which should give you a better idea of what it might be like to vacation in an RV.

RVs or recreational vehicles include motor homes, travel trailers, tent trailers, fifth wheels, truck campers, van conversions and park models. You can purchase a folding camping trailer for as little as $6,000 while a Class A Motorhome will set you back a minimum of $70,000. There is a wide variety of options in between including truck campers that start at $15,000 and park model trailers, which must be pulled by a heavy tow vehicle, and start at $30,000.

Apparently, many Canadians are jumping on the RV bandwagon, finding RV travel a more flexible and inexpensive vacation option. According to GoRVing.ca, 14% of Canadians own an RV and 67% of RV owners are under 55.

The Toronto RV Show hours are Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Show admission is Adult $10, Couple $18, Family $23 and Children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Door prizes include a 42″ Aquos TV. Parking is free.
