
If your kids are champing at the bit for something to do during March Break and you’re not planning a mid-March get-away to tropical climates, you’ll find a wide variety of camps for Spring break that will help develop your child’s knowledge and skill in sports, science, music, nature, art or photography. In Toronto, March Break occurs March 12-16, 2012.
Garrison Creek Art Education Centre
Located in a house near Dufferin Grove Park, Garrison Creek Art Education Centre offers a March Break camp from March 12-16 and March 19-23, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 4-9 for $48 per day, which includes a nutritious snack. Sportplay March Break Camp
Sportplay offers full day ($235) and half-day ($135) March Break camps for children ages 3-7 that include sports classes, an arts and crafts period, a LEGO® play period and circle games. A supervised lunch is included for full day camp participants. Locations are in the Beach, Bloor West Village, the Danforth, Forest Hill, North Toronto and Waterloo. GTA Photography March Break Teen Camp

GTA Photography, located at 47 Colborne St., #306, 416-546-9089, is offering a Teen Photography Camp during March Break from March 12-16, 2012, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The photography camp is $495 plus HST and will cover composition, exposure, using a manual mode and camera settings. A digital SLR or point-and-shoot camera that has a manual mode is required although loaner cameras are available for $49.50 plus HST.
Mad Science March Break Camp
Mad Science is offering March Break camp at its Toronto, Richmond Hill, Pickering and Ajax locations including a Machine Maniacs camp that involves chemistry lab concoctions, bird house building, a bug investigation, building a Geodesic dome and basic photography techniques. The Toronto March Camp will take place from March 12-16, 2012 at the Blythwood Baptist Church. Camp fees range from $220-$244 and camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Humber Arboretum March Break Camp

The Humber Arboretum at 205 Humber College Blvd., 416-675-5009, is holding a March Break Camp, which is tailored to children aged 5-13, that includes snowshoeing, forest exploration, arts and crafts, chickadee feeding, orienteering, maple syrup harvesting and a Friday lunch. The camp is $205 and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 12-16, 2012 and has before and after care available.
University of Toronto March Break Camps
The University of Toronto offers several March Break camps from March 12-16, 2012 including:
- Gymnastic camp for children 4-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at U of T’s Athletic Centre, $295
- Golf camp for children 8-15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Varsity Centre, $350
- Multi-sport camp for children 6-7 and 8-11 that includes basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming and skating, $250
- Mini-university for grade 7 and 8 students that focuses on teamwork, communication, professionalism, goal-setting and includes daily activity, $250

Spin Master™ March Break Toy Design Camp

Located at the Design Exchange, 234 Bay St., the Spin Master™ March Break Toy Design Camp is for children 6-12 and includes hand-on art projects including stuffed creatures and clay modelling, a trip to a design studio and a Build for Speed activity to build a racing track on the Stock Exchange trading floor. The Toy Design camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 12-16, 2012 and is $325, or $295 for members of the Design Exchange. Canlan Ice Sports March Break Camp
With locations at 159 Dynamic Dr., Scarborough, 416-412-0404 and at 1120 Martin Grove Blvd., Etobicoke, 416-247-5742, Canlan Ice Sports offers March Break camps including Speed, Agility and Skills Hockey Camp for ages 9-12, Girls Only Skating, Shooting and Scoring for ages 7-10 and Hockey Tips for Tots for ages 8-11. Fees range from $249-$299 for the March 12-16 camp and camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Avenue Road Arts School

Avenue Road Arts School at 460 Avenue Rd., 416-961-1502, is offering an outer-space-themed March Break camp for JK to Grade 9 students from March 12-16, 2012. The JK to Grade 4 camp group will examine outer space through music, drama and visual arts while the Grade 4-9 group will study the universe through cartooning and illustration, musical theatre and abstract explorations. The cost is $275 for half-day camp, $305 for half-day camp with lunch supervision and $535 for full day camp with lunch supervision. Participants in both half-day and full-day camps are required to bring their own lunches. Before and after camp care is available for $30 per hour.
