
Dust off your golf clubs because the City of Toronto is opening its municipally-owned and operated golf courses on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10 a.m. as a result of the unseasonably mild weather. City of Toronto golf courses offer golfing for the beginner looking for an executive, par 3 course, as well as more challenging golf courses for advanced players. Several of the courses are accessible by subway.
All City of Toronto golf courses employ a dress code that includes no cut-off shorts and no t-shirts. Senior and junior rates are not available before 12 noon on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Don Valley Golf Course
The most difficult and perhaps most scenic of the City-owned golf courses, Don Valley Golf Course at 4200 Yonge Street (at York Mills Rd.), 416-392-2465, features a par 71, 6109 yard course with a licensed restaurant overlooking the greens, change rooms and washrooms. Green fees for 18 holes of play for adults are $56 and $63, seniors (65+) $33 and $40 and juniors (18 and under) $30 and $36. All fees will be increased by 3% for the 2012 season.
Scarlett Woods Golf Course
Located at 1000 Jane Street, just south of Eglinton Ave. W., 416-392-2484, Scarlett Woods Golf Course is the City of Toronto’s second easiest golf course to play with 10 par 3 and 8 par 4 holes. Scarlett Woods features a licensed restaurant, pro shop with rental equipment and change rooms/washrooms. Green fees for 18 holes of play on the 3,749 yard course are adults $32 and $39, seniors (65+) $22 and $27 and juniors (18 and under) $19 and $25. All fees will be increased by 3% for the 2012 season.
Humber Valley Golf Course
This relatively flat course at 40 Beattie Avenue (Albion Rd. and Weston Rd.), 416-392-2488, is easy to walk and has few water hazards. The par 70, 5,446 yard course has a licensed restaurant, change rooms, washrooms and a pro shop where you can rent equipment. Green fees for 18 holes of play for adults are $45 and $52, seniors (65+) $29 and $33 and juniors (18 and under) $26 and $29. All fees will be increased by 3% for the 2012 season.
Dentonia Park Golf Course
Located at 781 Victoria Park Avenue, just north of Danforth Ave., 416-392-2558, Dentonia Park Golf Course is the City of Toronto’s easiest golf course to play with 10 par 3 and 8 par 4 holes. The hilly course crosses the Taylor-Massey Creek a few times, offering a few challenges on the back nine. Dentonia Park has a pro shop with rental equipment, as well as washrooms and change rooms. Green fees for 18 holes of play for adults are $24 and $27, seniors (65+) $16 and $22 and juniors (18 and under) $15 and $20. All fees will be increased by 3% for the 2012 season.
Tam O’Shanter Golf Course
Tam O’Shanter Golf Course is one of the City’s more difficult golf courses at 6,083 yards. The Par 72 course is located at 2481 Birchmount Rd. (at Huntingwood Dr.), 416-392-2547 and includes a licensed restaurant, pro shop with rental equipment and washrooms and change rooms. Green fees for 18 holes of play for adults are $45 and $52, seniors (65+) $29 and $33 and juniors (18 and under) $26 and $29. All fees will be increased by 3% for the 2012 season.
