So you’ve completed the Toronto Marathon and cycled the Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart. Now here’s a walk-a-thon that will give your dog some bragging rights. The first annual Toronto Friends for Life Walk-a-thon, hosted by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA), takes place at Coronation Park in Toronto on Sat., May 26, 2012 beginning at 9 a.m. The three kilometre walk, which can be completed via walking, running or inline skating, will follow the Martin Goodman Trail and finish with a barbeque and entertainment.

Tanya Kim, host of CTV’s etalk, is the inaugural walk-a-thon’s honorary chair and will be participating in the walk with her Mastiff, Miss Louise. Dave Salmoni, host and producer of Animal Planet and Discovery Channel programs will also participate in the walk-a-thon. After the walk, there will be contests for loudest bark, best howl and biggest and smallest dog in attendance, as well as face paint for kids. All dogs must be kept on leashes at all times. Register online or between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on the day of the walk-a-thon.
