Right about this time in the midst of this humid, sticky weather, knocking back a cold draft beer probably sounds like a good idea. And the opportunity to sample several types of craft beer probably sounds like an even better idea. You will get the chance to do just that at the Hart House Craft Beer Festival, which takes place on the University of Toronto campus on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 7 p.m. For the cost of an admission ticket, you can try eight different beer samples from craft beer companies across Canada, as well as soak up that beer with accompanying barbeque fare prepared by noted Hart House Chef Marco Tucci.
This year, there is also an ExBEERiential one-hour beer-tasting workshop beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Craft beer companies participating in the festival to date include Vancouver’s Granville Island Brewing Company, Guelph’s F&M Brewery/Stonehammer, Brampton’s Hop City, Creemore Springs Brewery Limited, Barrie’s Flying Monkey Craft Brewery, Nickel Brook Brewery, Calgary’s Big Rock Brewery and the Steam Whistle Brewery, Amsterdam Brewery, Kensington Brewing Company, Black Oak Brewing Company and Keep6 Imports from Toronto.
Tickets for the Hart House Craft Beer Festival, which is a 19+ event, are Adults $35 plus HST and students with valid student ID $30 plus HST and includes barbeque fare. Tickets for the ExBEERiential beer tasting workshop are $50 plus tax or $40 plus tax for students. If you can organize a group, you may qualify for cheaper group rates. If eight beer samples is not enough for you, you can purchase additional sample tickets at the festival. If you want to partake of this festival, buy your tickets now since tickets for Hart House’s Craft Beer Festival always sell out well in advance of the event.
