Nailopolis is a new nail salon at 609 Mount Pleasant Rd. at Manor Rd. I recently visited the salon to receive the Buytopia $39 Shellac Manicure and Deluxe Pedicure package (reg. $93), which was in one word…decadent! The pedicure began with a soak in cinnamon Epsom salts (you can also choose mint) mixed with Tea Tree oil to eliminate bacteria. Aesthetician Tyra then applied a brown sugar scrub on my feet, used a pumus stone to remove dry skin at the heels then trimmed and shaped my nails. Get the Buytopia $39 Nailopolis deal here.

Tyra then asked if I preferred pumpkin spice, dark chocolate or vanilla coconut lotion. She had me at pumpkin spice, a rich lotion, which you can purchase at the salon and which smelled good enough to eat (!). She slathered a generous amount on my tired feet and calves and then gave me a foot massage verging on reflexology, which contributed to the relaxed state I was quickly achieving. I chose an O.P.I.  shade in pinky-purple (Suzi The 7 Dusseldorfs) for my feet. It looks wonderful and quite festive since it has a slight shimmer!

The Nailopolis salon is a welcome relief from the in-and-out salons that blast Top 40 hits. The room whispers “c-h-i-l-l” with its white brick walls, twinkling chandeliers, white furnishings and welcome Classical music playing in the background. Plus, Nailopolis has a complete selection of O.P.I. nail colours, not just last year’s shades.

My shellac manicure began with a light nail buffing, then a nail and cuticle trim. Tyra then used a small pumus stone (as opposed to the metal sticks), to gently push back my cuticles. My hands were treated to the same divine pumpkin spice lotion, which was massaged gently into my skin and which makes me now want to bake a pumpkin pie! I’d never had a shellac manicure before. Shellac is a hybrid between polish and gel and can remain unchipped for up to two weeks. It also dries much faster than regular nail polish and has a super sheen. I chose a purple shade that can look royal blue in certain lights. The best thing about the shellac nail polish is the quick drying time…only one or two minutes in the curing “oven” and you’re done. I don’t think my nails have ever looked this good!

With these glittering pink and purple tones, I’m now ready to hit the holiday party scene.
