
If you were too busy to fly down to L.A. to attend the Oscars last week, you’ll be happy to know that the first annual Canadian Screen Awards, to be hosted by comedian Martin Short, will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and you may be lucky enough to attend for free. Presented by The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the show will honour the best in film, television and digital media. A limited number of seats are being allocated to fans who sign up at the Academy’s fanzone.
The show will be broadcast live on CBC at 8 p.m. on Sunday. Some of the nominees include Gerry Dee, Cathy Jones, Meg Tilly, Erin Karpluk, Shaun Majumder, Gabrielle Miller, Dallas Green, Fefe Dobson, Bob Cole, Wendy Crewson, Ron MacLean, Peter Mansbridge, Bomb Girls, Mr. D, Murdoch Mysteries, The Rick Mercer Report, Saving Hope, Flashpoint, Undercover Boss Canada, Being Erica, The 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards, Arctic Air, Titanic and Hockey Night in Canada.
If you can’t attend the show, a meet-and-greet and autograph session with some of the celebrities attending the awards show will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. All fans are invited to attend the meet-and-greet.
