Now that spring is here, many of us are thinking about fitness goals. What a great way to get in shape by participating in a Toronto walk or run that supports local charities.

Sporting Life 10K Toronto

Run for Kids with Cancer at this 10k run that starts south of Sporting Life at Yonge Street and Roselawn Avenue on Sunday, May 12 at 8 a.m. Supporting Camp Oochigeas, this Toronto running event costs $45 to register and you’ll receive a Nike Dri-FIT Miler top and a $15 Sporting Life promotional gift card. If you raise $100, your $45 registration fee will be waived, but you still receive the gift card and top.

Harry’s Spring Run-Off 2013

This annual 5k and 8k run in High Park takes place on Saturday, April 6, 2013. There are 100 charity spots in the 8k run. You can pay a registration fee of $100 for the 8k and receive a $40 tax receipt or simply register for $50. The 5k registration fee is $50. The Harry’s Spring Run-Off 8k starts at 10 a.m. and the 5k starts at 11:15 a.m. A children’s run starts at 11:45 a.m.

Down Syndrome Association’s 1st Annual Buddy Walk

Participate in the Down Syndrome Association of Toronto‘s first annual Buddy Walk on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Woodbine/Ashbridge’s Bay Park to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and raise funds for the Down Syndrome Society of Toronto. There are already 17 Buddy Walks taking place in the United States. Walkers are encouraged to collect donations and form teams using Peer to Peer fundraising campaigns, an easy way to fundraise. Walk registration takes place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. There will be prizes and food for walkers. Woodbine/Ashbridge’s Bay Park is located at Lake Shore Blvd. E. and Coxwell Avenue.

Toronto MS Walk 2013

The Toronto MS Walk takes place at Downsview Park, 35 Carl Hall Road on Sunday, May 5, 2013. You can opt for the 5k or 10k walk. Check in at 9:30 a.m.; the walks begin at 11 a.m. Contact Katelyn Veldman at 416-922-6600 x 3122 to register. The suggested individual fundraising goal is $125.

Pride and Remembrance Run 2013

Supporting LGBTQ communities, the Pride and Remembrance Run takes place on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. Beginning at Church and Wellesley Streets, the 5 km run or 3 km walk travels west to Queen’s Park and back. This year, net proceeds from the run will be supporting the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives and Planned Parenthood Toronto. Registration is $35-$45 depending on when you register.
