Stephen King to Headline PEN Canada Gala

Author Stephen King will appear at a PEN Canada benefit opening the International Festival of Authors on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. King will be accompanied by his son, novelist Owen King and the discussion will be moderated by Louise Penny, award-winning author of the Chief Inspector Gamache crime novels.

Stephen King has written 50 books, including Carrie, The Shining, Misery and Secret Window, which have sold more than 350 million copies. Stephen King will present his new novel, Doctor Sleep, with characters and setting reminiscent of The Shining. Owen King will present his first novel, Double Feature, about the relationship between a B-movie actor and his filmmaking son. Owen King is also the author of We’re All in This Together: A Novella and Stories.

Tickets to the Stephen King event are $100 with proceeds going to PEN Canada. Advance tickets will be available to the International Festival of Authors Patrons and PEN Patrons on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000. Tickets for the general public will be available on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. by calling the box office or online at the International Festival of Authors.

The International Festival of Authors takes place October 24 to November 3, 2013. The PEN Canada benefit will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 8 p.m. at the Fleck Dance Theatre at Harbourfront.
