Have you wanted to check out the YMCA to see what type of fitness facilities it offers? Then here’s your chance. On Sunday, June 2, 2013, all YMCAs in the GTA will be open to the public for free for Healthy Kids Day. This event isn’t just for kids though; it’s for the whole family and the first 2,500 guests at the YMCA will receive a pedometer to help them measure their daily activity and participate in Get a Jump on Summer Challenge, a 30-day walk across Canada.
Healthy Kids Day was developed to teach kids about getting active and developing healthy habits as a family. Special activities will be scheduled for Healthy Kids Day; however, you will be able to access all the regular YMCA facilities on June 2 for free including the weight room, running track, swimming pool and fitness classes scheduled on June 2.
There are YMCA locations in the GTA at:
- 20 Grosvenor Street
- 931 College Street (at Dovercourt)
- 567 Sheppard Avenue East (at Bayview Avenue)
- 325 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Mississauga
- 101 YMCA Blvd. (Hwy 407 and Kennedy Road), Markham
- 20 Union Street, Brampton
