Canadian Stage‘s Shakespeare in High Park (previously called A Dream in High Park) will perform Shakespeare’s MacBeth and The Taming of the Shrew on alternate nights at High Park in Toronto during the summer of 2013. The plays run on alternate nights from June 26 to September 1, 2013 Tuesday through Sunday at 8 p.m.
Backstage tours and pre-show workshops for groups are also available. Pack a picnic dinner, wear socks and shoes (for the bugs and the cold), bring a blanket and some bug spray and enjoy a night under the stars at the High Park Amphitheatre. Having attended Shakespeare in High Park on several occasions, I can attest that it is truly an intoxicating experience.
MacBeth runs from June 26 to September 1, 2013 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 8 p.m. Opening night will be July 3 with previews June 26, 28 and 30. The Taming of the Shrew runs from July 6 to August 31, 2013 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Opening night will be July 16 with previews July 6, 9, 11 and 13. Both performances are 90 minutes with no intermission.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and admission is pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $20. This year, Canadian Stage allows you to order your tickets in advance online or pay by debit or credit card at the gate.
