Do you get swept away by the romance of the seas? If so, you’ll definitely want to get down to Toronto Harbour for the Redpath Waterfront Festival from June 20-23, 2013, which officially launches the Tall Ships® 1812 Tour. Presented by Water’s Edge Festivals & Events, the Tall Ships Tour will be stopping at major ports in Ontario during the summer of 2013 to commemorate the War of 1812 Bicentennial.

The opening ceremonies for the Redpath Waterfront Festival take place on Thursday, June 20, 2013. During the four-day festival, you will be able to have a deck tour of the Tall Ships and participate in special events on land along Toronto’s waterfront. You’ll also get to see many historic vessels, some of which are replicas of vessels that took part in the War of 1812, including the Pride of Baltimore II and Privateer Lynx. The SS Sorlandet from Norway is 890 tons and the oldest full rigged ship in the world, still in operation. On Sunday, the fleet will participate in a Parade of Sail as they leave for Hamilton.
Drop by the Wharf at York to watch the 18 minute story of the attack on Fort York.
The young deckmates you’ll encounter on board the Tall Ships are participating in Toronto Brigantine Inc.’s sail training opportunities for youth.

The Tall Ships will travel across Ontario to Brockville, Toronto, Hamilton, Port Dalhousie, Sault Ste. Marie, Owen Sound, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Penetanguishene, Midland, Discovery Harbour, Windsor, Amherstburg, Leamington, Kingsville and Pelee Island from June 14 to September 2, 2013.
