Hart House Theatre opens its 2013/2014 season with Catherine Banks’ Bone Cage running from September 20 to October 5, 2013. The tragi-comedy will be making its Toronto premiere, directed by Hart House Theatre alumnus Matt White and featuring Layne Coleman. Playwright Catherine Banks will be attending opening night, as well as a post-show discussion.

Bone Cage explores young adults struggling to exist among ruined landscapes in rural Nova Scotia. Employing a style described as Atlantic Gothic, as well as dark humour and poetry, Banks’s characters are trapped by their self-imposed limitations. Bone Cage won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama in 2008.
Coleman was the Artistic Director for Theatre Passe Muraille, was the resident screenwriter at the Canadian Film Centre and has performed with Factory Theatre, Tarragon Theatre and Canadian Stage. His play, Oasis of Hope was nominated for a Dora Award for Best New Play.

Banks will attend the opening night performance of Bone Cage at Hart House Theatre on Friday, September 20, 2013 and will join the cast for a post-show discussion with the audience on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

Performances of Bone Cage take place Wednesday to Saturday at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

Tickets for Bone Cage are Adults $28; Seniors $17, Students $15 and $10 for students on Wednesday nights and can be purchased online.
