The Toronto Entertainment District Business Improvement Area (TOED) will host their annual Christmas Tree lighting at David Pecaut Square on Friday, November 22, 2013 at David Pecaut Square at 5 p.m. The evening will also feature performances by The St. Michael’s Choir School and a brass quintet from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. (Contest: Torontonicity is giving away one copy of Home Alone: The Holiday Heist on DVD starring Christian Martyn, Eddie Steeples, Malcolm McDowell and Ed Asner. Contest is now closed.)

Free to the public, the seasonal event also features hot chocolate and cookies, compliments of The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto for visitors.

If you’re looking for things to do in Toronto during the holidays, the 35-foot Ontario grown Colorado Blue Spruce tree will feature 6,000 feet of LED lights that have been made possible by CP24. The tree will remain on display until late January 2014. Be sure to a toy or financial donations to donate to the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish.

To add to the holiday celebration, the CN Tower will be lit up in festive red over David Pecaut Square. The Tower’s regularly scheduled 8-minute light show occurs at the top of each hour.

Home Alone Contest Details:

In Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, Finn Baxter and his family move from California to Maine to their new house. Finn, who believes the house is haunted, sets up traps to catch the “ghost” while his parents get stranded across town and Finn is home alone with his sister. Their house is targeted by three thieves.
