The Christmas season starts for me once I’ve been to the One of a Kind Christmas Show in Toronto. It’s a holiday event that I look forward to so I gladly accepted the show’s invitation to the media breakfast and show preview on November 28, 2013. Chef Bruce Woods of Woods Restaurant on Colborne Street served us a hearty breakfast of mini bagels with cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes, steak and eggs, a mushroom and haddock frittata and pancakes. Well, we needed the energy to visit with some of the 850 vendors at the show this year.

All fuelled up, I went on a hunt for some of the One of a Kind Christmas Show’s best fashion pieces and I didn’t have to look far. Vespertine was showcasing a cute “capelet” in blue and rust plaid for $178. I love this cape for the office or festive parties paired with pants, jeans or even a light-knit sweater dress. Melanie, owner of Vespertine, advised me that this was her first time at the show. You can find Vespertine at Booth N30.

My next stop was Judy Design. This teal and black top is made from bamboo and you can adjust the waist in case you add a few pounds over the holidays. At $109, it’s a fabulous party look whether you’re headed to King Street West or Ossington Avenue. Find Judy Design at Booth Q-48.

I’ve stopped by Eve Gravel’s booth several times in the past years since her designs are current yet classic. I pulled this dress off the rack immediately since I felt it would be a popular choice for many women and sure enough, I was informed a customer was trying one of these dresses on as we spoke. At $176, this dress is a great buy since it will take you virtually everywhere and can be spruced up with a soft pink or red sweater or jacket or simply worn alone. Find Eve Gravel at Booth P44.

This adorable green dress from Tetiana K is well-priced at $150. Can’t you see Zooey Deschanel wearing this cutie? Find Tetiana K Clothing at Booth S37.

I had to add this other piece from Vespertine. This crepe-like, cap-sleeved blouse is so light and comfortable to wear and can be added to your skinny jeans or your black mini skirt. At $188, this blouse is well worth the investment since it will become your statement piece on many occasions. Find Vespertine at Booth N30.

Stacey Zhang’s down coats are fabulously light, which is just what we Toronto women need. I mean, we want to keep warm, but we don’t want to look like Hulk Hogan. Find Stacey Zhang at Booth Q56.
