The School of Public Policy and Governance (SPPG) will host the inaugural David Peterson Leadership Lecture with Louise Arbour on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Isabel Bader Theatre. Arbour was the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, former justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and the Court of Appeal for Ontario and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda.
Arbour will address issues such as:
- Are international peace and security doctrines falling apart?
- Are institutions crumbling?
- Does anybody care if this is the case?
Arbour, who is currently President & CEO of the International Crisis Group, will speak to the state of such doctrines as international criminal justice and the Responsibility to Protect. Her speech will be followed by a Q&A session, moderated by Mel Cappe, a Professor at the School of Public Policy & Governance and former Clerk of the Privy Council.
The event, which runs from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., is free; however, you must register online.
