Joe Carter, the beloved former Toronto Blue Jay who hit a walk-off home run to win the 1993 World Series, is hosting the Joe Carter Classic for the fifth year on June 25 and 26, 2014 at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple. Carter will call on over 40 of his celebrity friends to join him at his charity golf tournament including NHL legend Gordie Howe, NBA greats Charles Barkley and Moses Malone and baseball stars Cito Gaston, Kelly Gruber and Ozzie Smith. More celebrities will be added closer to the date.
This year, the golf event will take place over two days to include the Joe Carter Classic Celebrity Skins Game on June 25, 2014 and the charity golf tournament and VIP after party on June 26, 2014. To date, the Joe Carter Classic has raised almost $1 million for the Children’s Aid Foundation and other local children’s charities.
The Celebrity Skins Game will feature celebrity-lead foursomes competing for more than $25,000 in cash prizes. Winners will be able to donate their cash prize to the Children’s Aid Foundation or a charity of their choice.
The formal charity tournament on June 26 includes:
- 18 holes of golf, scramble format
- breakfast, open beverage cart, lunch, cocktail reception, dinner
- silent auction
- welcome gift
- mingling with celebrity guests
- VIP after party at the Shangri-La Hotel at 188 University Avenue in Toronto.
In 2013, celebrities attending the Joe Carter Classic included Wayne Gretzky, Eric Lindros, Johnny Bower, Gordie Howe, Doug Gilmour, Ray Bourque, P.K. Subban, Damon Allen, Marcus Allen, Dave Stewart, Devon White and others.
