You may have been to the Green Living Show at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre in past years, but the show has expanded to include more activities. The show, which takes place April 25-27 2014, now features a Fashion Accessory Swap and Media Swap where you can trade your books, CDs, and DVDs.

There are several pavilions including the Urban Agriculture Pavilion where you can learn about gardening for urban spaces including balcony gardens, living walls, community gardens, gardening on roofs and vacant lots. The Ontario Culinary Explorers Pavilion allows guests to sample foods, beer and wines and talk to producers and representatives. Sample tickets are $1.

Some of the exhibitors include Bee Glorious, Cocoon Apothecary, Lala Soap, Purely Great, Rawleigh’s, Beaulance, Gilead Cafe, Rosewood Estates Winery, Steam Whistle Brewery, Karlo Estates, Red Canoe Bistro, Black Oak Brewing Co., Harvest Goodies, Southbrook Vineyards, Pomodoro and Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers.

Take your kids to the Kids Zone where they can participate in YMCA camp games, worm composting, upcycling clothes into useable objects and learning how to add super foods to juices and smoothies.
Test new hybrid, electric and fuel-efficient vehicles at the Green Living Test Drive.

My favourite way of living green is going to farmer’s markets and buying locally grown produce and “happily raised” meats. It is fun, I get to known the farmers and I get to learn about what they do and how they grow such fantastic food for me.
