Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch has been a popular breakfast chain throughout the GTA. I finally got a chance to try this buzzworthy restaurant on Mother’s Day. We chose the location at 27 Carlton Street in Toronto.

We suspected that Cora’s would be busy on Mother’s Day so we decided to get there early, just before 9 a.m. Thankfully, there was no line-up and we were seated within a minute or two.
We were greeted by our most enthusiastic server, Evan, who appeared to have been awake since 4 or 5 that morning. Evan quickly took our beverage order and then reappeared with coffee and water. He gave us lots of time to peruse the menu.
One of the guests in my party ordered a Strawberry and Banana Smoothie ($3.95) to start and deemed it as good as the ones he makes at home, a solid endorsement.

Two of us ordered the Spinach and Cheddar Omelette ($10.25). The omelette is a generous size (you may not be able to finish it if you’re not really hungry) and was served with side potatoes and toast. I definitely recommend ordering the omelette; it was tasty and made with lots of spinach. I was not, however, impressed with the side potatoes. They would have tasted much better if they had been cut into smaller pieces and sauteed on both sides.
My mother ordered the Sunshine Panini with ham ($11.75), which came with an ample serving of fresh fruit including pineapple, canteloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon, kiwi, grapes, blueberries and banana. The panini was light and crispy and not too filling.

My sister ordered the Seven of July crepe with French toast and fruit ($10.95). This is another dish that comes with a huge serving of fresh fruit. The French toast was well prepared and not soggy at all. Our server happily fulfilled a request for syrup.
We all enjoyed our meals at Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch and agreed that the food, service and overall value was exceptional.
Once we had paid our bill, Evan delivered a perfect, long-stemmed red rose to my mom. What a fabulous touch for Mother’s Day.
I definitely recommend visiting Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch for a healthy breakfast served by pleasant and efficient servers.
