What a lovely morning it is to wake up and visit with Andrew and Leila Ois, the friendly, welcoming team at the new The Good Press juice bar in Yorkville. They cheered me up on this rainy, cool morning with a colourful spread of juices.

I sampled the following organic, cold-pressed juices:

  • Ruby Tuesday – beet, carrot, apple, ginger, lemon
  • Emerald City – kale, cucumber, celery, parsley, romaine, apple, lemon, ginger
  • Beets, Limes and Life – beets, acai uree, lime + filtered alkaline water
  • Hawaii 5-0:  pineapple, spinach, romaine, arugula, jalapeno

They are all delicious and I would drink any of them anytime. Leila was eager to find out which was my favourite and I must say that Hawaii 5-0 is my favourite! I just loved the multi-dimensional kick of sweetness paired with spicy jalapeno even though it was 8 a.m. in the morning. That is one way to awaken yourself. It worked for me!

Good for you
Not getting enough greens in your diet? A green smoothie is always a good decision! The Good Press Green Meanie has cucumber, kale, apple, celery, avocado, spirulina, flax oil, lime and lemon. You feel healthier just thinking about it, don’t you?

The ingredients at The Good Press are always organic. They use local, whenever possible, and use a cold-pressed method of extracting juice. Cold-pressed juice is made when fresh fruit and vegetables are gently pressed to extract the most nectar from their pulp and fibre, resulting in delicious, raw, fresh juice, filled with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. They don’t use High Pressure Processing so you can be sure that your juice is as pure, fresh and alive as possible.

Their green promise
The Good Press’s cold-pressed juices and milks are served in reusable, returnable glass bottles. Their made-to-order drinks are served with a compostable (corn-based) cup and straw.

When to go
They have great hours: 8 am to 8 pm Monday thru Sunday which is perfect for picking up invigorating juice before going into the office or for dropping by after work for refreshments. My friends like to hang out at the juice bar after work.  With the rise in health consciousness, fewer people want to go to the traditional bar – The Good Press is a great substitute. If you are hungry, check out their delicious acai bowls, salads or smoothies.

Yesterday, I looked at their Facebook page and saw that they have freshly made cashew milk and cashew chocolate. I plan to stop there after my trip to the ROM for some tasty and energy-boosting goodness! Tweet your favourite juice using the hashtag #goodpressTO
