The Ossington Stop Offers Free Food to Public on July 17

There is a new restaurant in the Ossington neighbourhood, Ossington Stop, and they are opening their kitchen to offer free lunch to the public on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from noon to 5 p.m. Ossington Stop, located at 1164 Dundas Street West, is a small, affordable eatery whose kitchen will be open until 4 a.m. on weekends for late night snacks.

The menu features affordable food staples that have been upgraded with gourmet ingredients. Some of Ossington Stop’s menu items include:

Soft Shell Beef Tacos, $3.50 each

Sausage Pies, $8 each

Russian Steamed Buns with Pork and Cabbage, $4 each

You also won’t have to fork out a lot for drinks at Ossington Stop. Beer is $4, wine is $5 a glass and shots are $4 while doubles at $7.

Owner William Tavares created Ossington Stop to provide affordable bites and cheap drinks for lunch, dinner and late night snacks. “I just wanted to do something special for a neighbourhood that has always embraced myself and my endeavours,” says Tavares, who also owns Ossington Avenue’s Fishbar.

On July 17, 2014, Ossington Stop will be serving the following items free to the public from 12 noon to 5 p.m.:

  • Steamed Bun with pork, cabbage and carrot salad
  • Chicken ‘n’ Waffles with roasted chicken, a Southern waffle and honey garlic sauce
  • Baked BBQ Side Ribs with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and “deep goodness” slaw

Ossington Stop’s current hours are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.;  Thursday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m. Closed Mondays.

    • Yes, I agree: it’s quite generous, Grace. I think there’s going to be quite a crowd at Dundas and Ossington on July 17!
