Are you a bibliophile? Do you wait nervously for the announcement of the Scotiabank Giller Prize winner? Then you’ll definitely want to purchase a ticket for The Book Lover’s Ball 2015, which has a new location this year. The 10th annual literary event, presented by Toronto Public Library Foundation and TD Bank Group, will be taking place at the Toronto Reference Library on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

More than 50 authors have been confirmed to attend The Book Lover’s Ball, whose proceeds will support the Toronto Public Library. Here’s your chance to mix and mingle with your favourite author. Confirmed authors attending the event include Andrew Pyper, Craig Davidson, Miriam Toews, Linwood Barclay, Dionne Brand, Michael Harris, Linden MacIntyre, Paula Todd, Greg Sorbara, Kevin Newman, Martha Baillie, Claire Cameron, Jamie Kennedy, Julian Porter, Bryan Baeumler and Maureen Jennings, among others.

Get up close and personal during an intimate dining experience with a celebrity author and favourite fictional characters including Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and Romeo and Juliet. The evening’s silent auction will feature book club experiences with an author and your friends, travel packages and a chance to Adopt a Branch.

After Dark Party Following the Ball

This year for the first time, there will be an After Dark party following the ball. Enjoy live music, dancing, Jason Collett’s Basement Revue with special guests, and activities such as a quick game of Scrabble against your favourite author…if you dare!

The Book Lover’s Ball takes place Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street. The After Dark Party takes place at 9 p.m. Attire for the Book Lover’s Ball is Black tie with literary flare while the After Dark Party is Cocktail attire.

Tickets for the Book Lover’s Ball are $750 each and $7,500 for a corporate table of 8 with a celebrated author. A premium table of 10 seats, with a celebrated author, premium seating and a gift for each guest is $10,000. Tickets for After Dark are $100.

  1. This sounds like such a fun event! I don’t think I’d have the guts to play Scrabble with a published author. What an impressive list of attending authors. I love Dionne Brand, and I’ve read a couple of Toews’ books.

    • Hi Grace, There’s no way I’d play Scrabble with a celebrated author since I suck at Scrabble! I also read Miriam Toews’s All My Puny Sorrows and loved it! Cheers, Lori
