Andy Warhol Revisited opens in Toronto on July 1, 2015. The exhibit, which will be held at a pop-up gallery at 77 Bloor Street West, is one of the largest collections of original Warhol prints and paintings.

Hosted and curated by Revolver Gallery, Andy Warhol Revisited, will rotate more than 120 Warhol works during the exhibit’s six-month run including portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth, Mao, Mickey Mouse, the Campbell’s Soup Cans, the Dollar Sign Canvas, a rare series of prints of John Gotti and many more.
About Andy Warhol
Warhol was an American artist who was dominant in the pop art movement. He famously explored the relationship between celebrity culture and artistic expression.
Warhol’s art used many types of media, including painting, hand drawing, photography, printmaking, silk screening, sculpture, music and film. He founded Interview Magazine along with Gerard Malanga. His studio, The Factory, was a gathering place for intellectuals, artists, drag queens, street people and celebrities.
In the sixties, Warhol began make paintings of iconic objects such as dollar bills, mushroom clouds, electric chairs, Campbell’s Soup Cans, Coca-Cola bottles, as well as celebrities including Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Muhammad Ali, and Marlon Brando. Warhol also painted commissioned portraits for Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Diana Ross, Liza Minelli, Brigitte Bardot and Chinese Communist leader, Mao Zedong.
Warhol coined the expression “15 minutes of fame.” His painting, “Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)” fetched US$105 million.

A bilingual Andy Warhol Revisited Audio Tour app will be available for download July 1 and will provide Warhol’s history and background information about the artwork. The gallery will also host private events, live music events and a lecture series. Check the website for updates to the schedule and ticket information.
Designed in partnership with Toronto firm DesignAgency, the Andy Warhol Revisited Gallery will showcase art, design and interactive elements and will feature Warhol print wallpaper, a gift shop, and music and speaker events.
Andy Warhol Revisited will be open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.to 8 p.m. from July 1, 2015 until December 31, 2015. Admission is Adults $10, Seniors (65+) $8, Students (full-time with ID) and Youth (6 to 17) $5, Kids (under 5) free. Group of 10 or more are 20 per cent off.

Andy Warhol is a genius and I hope the organizers of Andy Warhold Revisited does a tour of this ( as far as Asia ). This gallery would be a blockbuster here.
