If you haven’t heard of chia seeds, I have to hand it to you for tuning out information about this hugely popular food trend. Chia seeds have bumped off the competition to become one of the western world’s most prized superfoods. Prana recently introduced their new chia seed product, ProactivCHIA. I received a sample of Prana’s ProactivCHIA to review.

Why Is ProactivCHIA Good For You?
Chia Seeds are a rich source of B vitamins Thiamine, Niacin, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus and Zinc. Chia seeds are also a good source of Riboflavin and Folate. Prana’s ProactivCHIA contains all of those vitamins and minerals, along with the probiotic, lactobacillus acidophilus. Lactobacillus acidophilus is the good bacteria, which helps keep your gut healthy.
To be honest, ProactivCHIA looks the same as the chia seeds I buy at The Big Carrot. I could not tell the difference between the two. But knowing that ProactivCHIA contains lactobacillus acidophilus is a bonus since I have taken probiotivcs supplements in the past and know how beneficial probiotics are.
Prana’s ProactivCHIA have a mild taste so it’s easy to add them to foods. The only distinguishing factor is its texture. I added ProactivCHIA to salads, on top of pizza, and to smoothies and it’s barely noticeable. It’s a great way to get your omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and probiotics all packed into those little seeds.
I will definitely add Prana’s ProactivCHIA to my meals since it’s an easy way to increase nutrients and probiotics in one’s diet. Have a look at some of our recipes using Prana ProactivCHIA:
