A new Toronto kids’ attraction has opened on Centre Island and we’re giving away tickets (our giveaway is now closed)! Pirate Life is a family pirate ship adventure, which involves costumes, face painting and searching for sunken treasure among the Toronto Islands.

“The adventure starts on land where everyone joins the crew with costumes, face paint and nicknames,” says owner Matt Slaman. “From there, we take to the seas for a one hour adventure full of fun and excitement aboard the pirate ship searching for sunken treasure.”

Pirate Life adventure theatre/cruise sparks curiosity and imagination and is geared to young children between the ages of three to nine. Kids will fire water cannons on board, watch a pirate sword fight and search for treasure. What a great way for families to live life as pirates while exploring the lagoons around Centre Island. A cruise on Pirate Life would also be a wonderful event for a children’s birthday party.

Pirate Life operates on The Island Rogue, a 45 foot ship that holds 33 passengers and is certified by Transport Canada. There is 30 minutes spent on land, and then 60 minutes on board sailing.

Pirate Life Schedule

  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 11:45 a.m.
  • 1 p.m.
  • 2:15 p.m.
  • 3:30 p.m.
  • 4:45 p.m.

Tickets for Pirate Life are $25 per person and free for children two and under and may be purchased online or by calling 416-476-3836. If you purchase your tickets online, you’ll receive a free bandana.

Directions to Pirate Life

From Union Station, walk south along Bay Street to the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and board the Centre Island Ferry. The Ferry cost is Adults $7.25, and 14 and under $3.50. You can also take a water taxi from York & Queens Quay to Centre Island for $10 a person.

On Centre Island follow the turtles on the pavement, then head south across the bridge towards the beach and find Pirate Life at the lagoon.
