The Christmas season in Toronto seems to be underway. The Omni King Edward Hotel on King Street held their Christmas Tree Lighting Party on Thursday, November 19, 2015 to the delight of many guests.

Guests gathered in the lobby of the majestic hotel to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while listening to holiday music.

I tried the Grilled Jerk Shrimp Shooters with Coconut-Infused Pineapple Chutney…delicious!

I definitely wanted to try the Beef Wellington appetizers since Beef Wellington is a specialty on the menu at the hotel’s Victoria’s restaurant. The beef was incredibly tender and the pastry was light and crispy while the sauce was savoury. Wow!

I didn’t try the Peking Duck hors d’oeuvres, but they looked wonderful.

Guests were asked to bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. CP24’s Pooja Handa was on hand to lead the countdown to the tree lighting.

The Omni King Edward Hotel always does desserts right as evidenced by the dessert table at the tree lighting party.

The lemon fruit tarts were tangy-sweet while the crust was delicate and light.

A quartet sang festive holiday favourites in front of the Christmas tree.

You can enjoy the gorgeous Christmas tree in the lobby of the Omni King Edward Hotel while having Nutcracker Afternoon Tea, which the hotel is hosting from November 27 to December 31, 2015 (not available Mondays and Tuesdays and December 24, 25 and 26, 2015). Cost is $45 per person. Call 416-863-4106 to reserve.
