Two Michelin Star Chef Pino Cuttaia to Prepare Dinner at Buca Yorkville
If you love the cooking of southern Italy, but can’t get to the region, you’re in luck. Two-Michelin-Star Chef Pino Cuttaia of Sicily’s La Madia will be coming to Toronto on February 4, 2016 to prepare a six-course dinner in collaboration with chef Rob Gentile at The King Street Food Company’s Buca Osteria & Bar in Yorkville. Cuttaia is a guest of the Italian culinary series presented by the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, the Italian Trade Commission and The King Street Food Company. Cuttaia’s visit to Toronto will also include a master class at George Brown College’s Chef School, as well as a lecture based on his book Per le Scale di Sicilia – Profumi, Sapori, Racconti, Memoria.
Proceeds from the dinner will fund scholarships and an annual award at George Brown College’s Chef School, as well as internships in prestigious restaurants in Italy.
Chef Pino Cuttaia was born in Licata, Sicily, and moved to Turin where he studied cooking and worked at Il Sorriso in Soriso, Novara; Il Patio in Pollone, Cuttaia then opened La Madia restaurant in Licata, Sicily with his wife Loredana in 2000. La Madia received its first Michelin star in 2006 and its second star in 2010, which led to increased tourism to the region. Chef Cuttaia have received prestigious awards and accolades from many international food guides.

Sotto una buona stella is a six-part series showcasing Italy’s rich culinary traditions. In 2015, the series featured dinners by Chef Massimo Bottura, Chef Andrea Berton, and Chef Ernesto Iaccarino. Over two years, the series will bring six of Italy’s top chefs with Michelin star ratings to Toronto.
Chef Pino Cuttaia at Buca Osteria and Bar is on February 4, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Buca Osteria and Bar is located at 53 Scollard Street (front entrance via Yorkville Avenue through Four Seasons Courtyard). Tickets for the event are $300 per person plus applicable taxes and can be purchased online at The King Street Food Company .
This would have been so awesome to experience. It’s been so long since I’ve been to a really nice dinner out with my hubby.
