Since its inception in 2008, many of us look forward to Family Day as a mini-break during our cold winter. Family Day in Ontario takes place Monday, February 15, 2016 this year. Make the most of Family Day by attending one of these special Family Day events Toronto 2016.

Sears Great Canadian Chill at Yonge-Dundas Square

Jump into a custom-built pool filled with icy cold water during the Sears Great Canadian Chill on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. to raise funds for the Sears Cancer Clinic at The Hospital for Sick Children and the Sears Childhood Cancer Fellowship. The Sears Great Canadian Chill takes place at Yonge-Dundas Square. Chillers may spend as little time in the water as they desire. There will be prizes for the those who raise the most money, as well as random prizes. Enjoy food trucks and a kids zone. Pre-registration is $25; registration on event day is $50.

Family Day Events at West End YMCA

The West End YMCA at College and Dovercourt in Toronto is open to the public on Family Day, Monday, February 15, 2016, for the following free events:

Gymnasium: 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Family Carnival: Each participant will be given tickets to redeem at each station including Bouncy Castle, Arts & Crafts, Face Painting or Temporary Tattoos, Carnival Games: Bean Bag Toss, Cookie Walk, Baseball Toss at Bottles/Pins, Basketball shooting, Balloon Pop: One ticket will be drawn to win a prize.

Healthy Snack Station: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Family Sports & Games: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Family Play: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Recreational Swim: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Family Day Events at Harbourfront Centre

Bring the family down to Harbourfront Centre on Family Day, Monday, February 15, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and enjoy free activities such as:

Lego Room – Come and build Lego creations. Buckets of Lego will be available. Marilyn Brewer Community Space

HarbourKIDS Playzone – This innovative playground encourages learning, movement and fun while kids build new worlds, imaginary places and dramatic scenarios — on a larger-than-life scale. Lakeside Terrace

Let’s Talk Science – Explore snowflakes, including the science behind the slow snowfall of a snowglobe and other winter experiments. West Arcade

Create a Magical World of Snow – Create a winter wonderland in a jar with paper cutouts, collage, and recycled objects. West Arcade

Audrey Dwyer and Michaela Washburn – Skate on the Natrel Rink with your festival co-hosts, Audrey Dwyer and Michaela Washburn.

Family Paint Day at Paintlounge

Attend Paintlounge with the family on Family Day, February 15, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and create your own masterpiece together. Artist staff will guide you to create your own family work. Recommended for kids 5-12. Cost per family is $50 plus HST for 24″ x 30″ session and $60 plus HST for 24″ x 36″ session. Canvas, paints and supplies are included.

Anything Goes at Lower Ossington Theatre

The Lower Ossington Theatre will be performing Cole Porter’s Anything Goes on Family Day weekend with performances on February 12, 13 and 14, 2016. The musical comedy features well-known songs including “I Get a Kick Out of You,” It’s De-Lovely” and “You’re The Top.” Tickets are $49.99-$59.99 and can be purchased online. The Lower Ossington Theatre is located at 100A Ossington Avenue.
