Toronto has seen some unpredictable weather this winter with a recent snowfall bringing 18 cm of snow to the ground. Jiffy is a new service whose goal is to prevent Torontonians from signing expensive snow removal contracts in a winter that has seen only three substantial snowfalls. Users can log onto the Jiffy On Demand website or app and order on-demand snow removal service when they need it. I recently tried Jiffy’s snow removal service on a complimentary basis in order to review it for Torontonicity.
Rates are pre-set so you know how much you are paying upfront. Snow removal services are $75 per house. You can book your service provider on an on-demand basis, within hours, or scheduled for a later date. You’ll receive a booking confirmation via email and you won’t have to pay for the service until it’s completed. Jiffy offers a satisfaction guarantee on their service providers’ work.
I placed an order on the Jiffy app (which I had downloaded to my Android phone) at about 7:30 a.m. a few days ago after we experienced a heavy snowfall.
I received a text message within a few minutes from Adam, one of Jiffy’s service providers, advising that he would be at our place between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. that day. I responded that that was fine since we were not planning to go out.
Jiffy On Demand doesn’t just offer snow removal services. The platform connects home residents with insured home service providers who provide handyman work, appliance repair, plumbing, painting, lawn maintenance, moving and delivery, and furniture assembly.
Adam arrived at 12:50 p.m., earlier than he had indicated. He immediately got to work shoveling the snow on the driveway, at the end of the driveway where it connects to the roadway and on the sidewalk. He even cleared my car of snow, which was great since this snow was of the wet and heavy kind. Adam was finished in about 40 minutes and we received a confirmation email within a few minutes indicating that the job was done. I was very pleased with Adam’s service.
Jiffy On Demand is available for download on iOS and Android or accessible at the Jiffy website. Jiffy connects homeowners with vetted and insured home professionals in 23 separate categories in the Greater Toronto Area. Jiffy has plans to expand its services in 2016.

What a great service! Depending on the season, it could work out to be much more worth it than paying for regular snow removal services.
This sounds great! My neighbours pay a flat rate per month, I think $140 per month, but they must pay for 4 months, whether it snows or not.
