We were a little tardy in our arrival at Earls Kitchen and Bar Toronto patio renovation party held on May 25, 2016. Sadly, we were too late for the food samplings enjoyed by the early birds; however, we were warmly greeted, hand-stamped and ushered right through to the patio and provided wonderful service and a warm welcome. The door staff directed us to John who was helping facilitate the evening. He directed us to Kristin Vekteris, Earl’s Marketing representative, who gave us a high level overview of the renovation and menu. Looking around, we could see that this is one of the most gorgeous downtown Toronto patios!

Next, we were introduced to the chef, Abrahim Tams aka “Abe,” who runs the kitchen at this flagship King and York Streets location and is responsible for creating local and seasonal delectable foods and drinks for patrons.
Abe took pity on us and made us a special Skirt Steak ($25) of locally farmed beef, which appears on the appetizer menu. My guest and I both agreed: this is one of the best steaks we had ever tried. Extremely juicy accented with new potatoes, seasoned, slightly warmed tomatoes with a tasty relish.

We also tried the Tuna Tostadas, which were tasty, and good if you just need a snack to tide you over.

We also sampled the Dynamite Roll, which was good for a Financial District bar, but who are we kidding? This is Toronto! We have restaurants dedicated to this 😉

New Cocktails at Earls Kitchen and Bar Toronto
We sampled two new drinks:
Phoney Negroni – delicious and boozy.
The Marilyn Monroe – Prosecco with vodka, passion fruit and a hint of vanilla. LOVED it!

$2.8 Million Patio Renovation
The renovation was no small feat – $2.8 million bought 50 more seats and more standing room on the patio. The space has been reconfigured to allow for a “holding area” near the entrance. The renovation affords more well-deserved space at the bar for the wait staff to move more freely.

The canopy overhead will provide some respite from sunny or rainy days and there is a strict no smoking policy now in place for the whole patio.

Free Wi-Fi at Earls Kitchen and Bar Toronto
The new patio features free wi-fi for guests’ convenience. If your mobile device starts to lose power, you can leave a $30 deposit for a table charger and simply take it home with you if you like.
Occasionaly. the staff will distribute some tasty “Boost” freezies. These are filled with fruit juice (wasn’t clear if there was also alcohol in them).

Cool nights or mornings are a perfect time for the fire pits and create a nice segue into shorter seasons Spring and Autumn.
Cate Simpson was a lovely host. She gave us a tour of the new facilities and then provided a parting gift of Earls pillow and blanket similar to those in the fire pit area.

They did a fantastic job! Just one more reason to love Earl’s
WOW! That reno is amazing. I used to work in that area, before I had my boys, and it’s awesome for after work drinks and nibbles. I’d love to go and eat there with my hubby. 🙂
