Labour Day weekend is usually the last opportunity to enjoy summer events before vacations end and school starts up again. If you’re heading to the cottage or off on a weekend trip, lucky you! If you are scrambling to get the kids ready for school, but still want to enjoy some end-of-summer events, we’ve highlighted a few things to do Labour Day weekend in Toronto.

Toronto International BuskerFest

The Toronto International BuskerFest has exploded from a humble street event to a full-blown festival featuring a wide range of performers, including circus acts, aerial acts, magicians, comedy acts, aerial acrobatics, dancers, fire tricks, hula, comedians, stilt walkers and jugglers. If you’re looking for things to do Labour Day weekend in Toronto for the whole family, this is your event. The Toronto International BuskerFest has moved to Woodbine Park on Labour Day weekend from Sept. 2-5, 2016. Admission is free.

Air Show at CNE

The ever popular Air Show featuring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds returns to the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto on Sat., Sept. 3, 2016, Sun., Sept. 4, 2016 and Mon., Sept. 5, 2016. Watch the Air Show at the CNE waterfront beginning at 12 p.m. and ending at 3 p.m. Admission to the Air Show is free with CNE admission.

Ribfest and Music Festival at Downsview Park

If you like ribs, you’ll want to check out Ribfest and Music Festival at Downsview Park from Sept. 2-5, 2016. Kids will enjoy the kiddie midway, Carnival games, rock climbing and face painting while adults will enjoy ribs, beer, wrestling, a marketplace and live music including tribute bands U2, Johnny Cash and Marshall Dane. Food trucks will also be on site. Admission is $2 and $5 (after 7 p.m.). Free parking. No pets allowed. Downsview Park is located at 35 Carl Hall Road.

Artfest Toronto at the Distillery

The Distillery District industrial buildings and cobblestone streets takes one back to 19th century Toronto. During Labour Day weekend, Artfest Toronto at the Distillery will be taking place. It’s a great opportunity to shop for jewellery, painting, glass art, photography, leather, metal art, clothing, accessories, home decor and gourmet food at the outdoor arts and crafts show. Artfest Toronto at the Distillery is takes place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept 2-5, 2016.

Chihuly at the ROM

Labour Day Weekend is your last chance to take in Canadian Stage’s productions of Hamlet and All’s Well That Ends Well at Shakespeare in High Park. The Labour Day weekend schedule is All’s Well That Ends Well on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, 8 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 4, 2016 at 8 p.m. while Hamlet is performed on Sat., Sept. 3, 2016 at 8 p.m.

Cirque du Soleil’s Luzia

If you haven’t seen Cirque du Soleil’s Luzia, Labour Day weekend would be a great time to take in this new show. Luzia celebrates the history and culture of Mexico and incorporates a water wall on stage, which is the first time Cirque has used a water element in a Big Top show.
