On the one hand, yoga is a physical exercise, a practice that can help calm and focus the mind. It is also a wholistic practice, balancing the emotional and spiritual side of us. What we wear is important in our practice. Gaiam has introduced the Gaiam Pro Apparel Line, which features yoga clothing for function and comfort including the Gaiam Luxe Yoga Capri. (Our giveaway of a Gaiam premium yoga mat is now closed. Congrats Robyn B.) The Gaiam Pro Apparel Line, which is available September 1, 2016, features yoga-friendly materials including lycra to prevent transparency and fading, mesh for breathability and inner waist panels to offer support.
The Luxe Yoga Printed Capri by Gaiam is inspired by the free-spirited personality of Bali (sounds exotic and calming, no?) and are designed to fit and flatter for every move. These yoga capris are soft and four-way stretchy, breathable, and boast a fun pattern on the sides. The stay-put waistband slims and supports while the higher rise and quick dry fabric will keep up with you, no matter the practice or pose. (Disclosure: I received a complimentary pair of Gaiam luxe yoga capris in wine with bright wine patchwork and and a Gaiam premium yoga mat in Capri in order to complete my review.) The Gaiam yoga capris are perfectly snug. I took my new yoga gear outside for a spin and liked them a lot.
The opaque leggings (no peekaboo here!) have a comfort gusset, creating freedom of movement and a very comfortable wearing experience. These capris also feature a waistband pocket for little essentials such as money or tissues; I even put my keys in there. The pocket is so handy for going out for yoga or for a jog – I love multi-purpose sport clothing!

The Gaiam capris have yoga compression – research shows that compression garments actually warm the body’s muscles, warding off injury, and may even increase athletic ability. The high waist means you can wear short tops without showing off your backside during Sun Salutations.

I love doing outdoor yoga: it makes me want to take the time to contemplate the sky and to strike a pose and hold it while taking nature all in. The yoga mat worked well on hard concrete and also on softer, uneven grass. It was great that I didn’t slide when I was on the grass.
The Reverse Plank Pose stretches the entire front of the body, while strengthening the arms, shoulders, glutes and core muscles and range of motion in the shoulders. Discover more about yoga on Gaiam’s Discover site.

I also received this colorful premium Capri Yoga Mat which is very cushiony – 6 mm of thickness provide supports joints while you explore longer and harder poses. I really noticed the softness when doing yoga poses on my knees and the cushioning for my back when doing pilates. The texture of this mat is made from no slip, grippy material, keeping me in place during any pose. I did not slide at all. I loved the safety and comfort it provided – it definitely helped with proper alignment and maintaining poses. Made without the six most harmful phthalates, this mat is a healthier choice for both you and the planet 🙂 Plus it is beautiful and calming.

The Gaiam bottoms keep you feeling confident knowing you’re covered for whatever inversion, balance, extend and stretch you go for. They are made with Pro Performance Fabric: 87% Polyester, 13% Spandex. I also think this yoga mat will bring you joy (did I mention comfort?) every time you step on it. Feel awesome!
The Gaiam Pro Fall 2016 Collection is available at Gaiam, Amazon Canada and Hudson’s Bay.
