These days, I’m enjoying walking through crisp, fallen leaves along the sidewalks during the still pleasant weather, but very soon, I suspect we’ll be seeing the annual white blanket that covers the ground. Fortunately, my feet are ready with my new winter boots from Cougar Boots. (Disclosure: I received a complimentary pair of Cougar boots in order to write this review.)

Cougar Boots are a Canadian institution! They have been making boots for over 60 years! They know what Canadian weather is like and that ordinary boots sometimes just won’t cut it when you are trekking in the Great White North. That’s why each Cougar boot has insulation that is temperature-rated so that you know which boot is the right one for you when the thermometer drops below 0°C. But don’t think that these boots lack style…quite the opposite! Have a look:

The Cheyenne boot, $230, from Cougar Boots (which are the boots I received) are perfect for cold weather. Their temperature rating is -30°C so I know that even if it’s a super freezing day, I won’t have to worry about my feet staying warm. The treads on the Cheyenne winter boots are very deep so there will be no slipping and sliding on ice.

Made from deertan leather, which is cowhide that has been softened, the Cheyenne boots are quite soft and very easy to lace up. This is not a stiff leather boot. I think they are super stylish as well. The Cheyenne boots shown above are in Cedar, but they also come in Red, Black and Dark Brown.

Here’s what’s responsible for the boots’ incredible warmth: the Sherpa pile lining. Sherpa is a soft polyester that resembles sheepskin. And this lining really is soft…and warm.
