If you see a “green hero” in your travels on the TTC or at PATH locations on February 9 and 23, 2017, don’t be alarmed. These volunteer heroes will be out doing good work to raise funds for Second Harvest Hero Day .
Second Harvest Heroes will be at at select TTC stations and PATH locations during morning, lunch and evening rush hours.

Collectively, Canadians waste over $31 billion dollars of food each year. Think about that for a moment the next time you go grocery shopping. Even more egregious is the fact that a total of four million Canadians have no access to healthy food.
Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue charity. They rescue surplus food from restaurants, hotels, venues and grocery stores and deliver it to agencies who offer meals to people experiencing hunger.
On Second Harvest Hero Days, February 9 and February 23, 2017, you’ll see Second Harvest Heroes, dressed in bright green masks and capes, accepting donations to support food rescue.

The goal of Second Harvest Hero Day is to raise funds to ensure that surplus food from Toronto organizations makes its way to agencies supporting over 130,000 Torontonians experiencing hunger every month.
Please consider making a donation on Second Harvest Hero Day.
This is a great cause. I used to work in downtown Toronto and use the PATH daily. They should get a lot of traffic during rush hour and hopefully lots of people giving. 🙂
