Shasta Earrings made from vintage Austrian crystal, $45, from Green Bijou

One sure sign of spring, other than the unusually balmy weather we’ve been enjoying in Toronto, is the arrival of the One of a Kind Spring Show at the Enercare Centre. This year, the popular craft show, which is now in its 39th year, takes place from March 29 to April 2, 2017 and we’re giving away 10 pairs of tickets to the show (giveaway has closed).

The One of a Kind Spring Show features exhibitors selling handmade clothing, jewelry, fashion accessories, children’s clothing and toys, home decor, hats, glass, ceramics, stained glass, photography, wood, metal, leather and gourmet food. New to the show this year is a Craft Drinks section, where you can take a break from the show and enjoy a refreshing beverage and a section featuring artisans from Paris, France.

I would never throw shade on you if you are going to the show to shop for items for yourself, since the show features such a great selection of unique artisanal products, but you can also do some shopping for loved ones for upcoming events including Easter, which is on Sunday, April 16, 2017 and Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday, May 14, 2017.

Here is a preview of the One of a Kind Spring Show in Toronto with some of my favourite products:

Breathe Beach Art Block from Cedar Mountain Studios

Cedar Mountain Studios in Saltspring Island is a company that produces whimsical art blocks with photography and many with captions. The art blocks are individually produced and made of wood that has been layered with plastering to create a vintage effect. I love the Breathe Beach art block ($47 for the original size; $27 for the mini size) because it features a rocky beach with a background of Canadian evergreens along the shore. When I look at the art block, it reminds me to slow down and be in the moment. I placed it on my bookshelf, although it could easily be hung on a wall (there is a hole in the back of the art block for a picture hook) in your family room, reading room or yoga space.

Cedar Mountains Studios features other art blocks with images of birds, animals and country scenes and captions that include: “Balance,” “Awaken,” “Flourish,” and “Serenity.” They have also introduced art blocks with iconic Canadian imagery to celebrate Canada’s Sesquicentennial.

Shasta Earrings from Green Bijou

These Shasta Earrings, $45, from Green Bijou have been redesigned from vintage jewelry and include Austrian crystal faceted tear drop pendants, bronze bails and copper and teal crystals. Owner and jewelry designer Tricia McMaster scours global antique flea markets to reinvent jewelry. She will also redesign your vintage piece. These Shasta earrings and many of McMaster’s pieces are one-of-a-kind so will definitely feel special wearing one of her pieces. I love the way the light reflects off of the crystal tear drop pendants and the teal crystals are a fabulous deep blue-green. The Shasta earrings are 1 3/8″ so they dangle without being too long.

Dog Collars from Hollywood Collection from Hot Diggity Dog

You want your dog to turn heads at the dog park, right? Then you’ll want to head to Hot Diggity Dog to pick up one of these colourful, jewel-embedded dog collars. The collars are made from Italian Nubuck Leather and start at $69.99. Hot Diggity Dog also allows you to design your own dog collar.

Middle Eastern Style Marinades from Saha International Cuisine

One of my favourite things to do at the One of a Kind Spring Show is to visit the food section where you can sample many types of gourmet products. Be sure to stop by Saha International Cuisine and pick up one of their sensational Middle Eastern Style marinades such as Shawarma, Lahmajoun (Middle Eastern Style Pizza Base) or Shish Taouk (Middle Eastern Style Chicken Marinade). Saha also produces Thai curries, Caribbean curry and Jerk marinade. Each jar is $7.99 for 250 ml.

Florence Top from Vespertine

The Florence Top in Nude/Blush Modal, $74, from Vespertine is a great addition to your spring wardrobe. The top’s half sleeve make it perfect for in-between weather and the neutral nude/blush colour make this a versatile piece. The Florence top has a soft cowl neck and is semi-fitted. The top also comes in rust, peony, tangerine, lichen, white and black and is available in sizes xs-xxxl. Check out Vespertine at Booth P42 at the One of a Kind Spring Show.

Noroit Bracelet from Anne-Marie Chagnon

The Noroit bracelet, $143, from Anne-Marie Chagnon is a statement piece that will elevate your outfit. The bracelet features a circular bronze plate with materials on the band that include bronze, pewter, wood and horn. The bracelet’s neutral palette can be paired with a variety of colours. Quebec jewelry designer Chagnon has achieved a popular following at the One of a Kind Show.
