Making Our Trees Count

One of the exhibits I’m most interested in is Making Our Trees Count, which is presented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Toronto Parks & Trees Foundation and Forests Ontario. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to learn about Ontario’s Green Leaf Challenge to plant three million trees across Ontario, and Toronto’s Every Tree Counts campaign to grow the city’s tree cover to 40%. If you live in Toronto, you can sign up to receive a free native tree at a Tree For Me event this spring. You will also learn how to choose the best tree, as well as tree care from local experts. Read about how to plant a tree properly in 10 easy steps.

Walk through 1,400 square feet of Ontario Wood exhibits to meet the artisans who create beautiful, local wood products.

Green Living Test Drive

If you are curious about hybrid and electric vehicles, you will have the opportunity to test drive these fuel-efficient vehicles at the show.

Learn to Fish and Learn to Camp

Kids can learn how to create a fishing lure, as well as explore a campsite at the Ontario Parks Learn to Camp and Learn to Fish exhibit at the show.

Taste Ontario, Taste the World – Diversity Grows in Ontario

Take a break and visit the Delicious Local Food & Drink Pavilion for some tasty dishes reflecting Canada’s diversity. Over 20 Canadian and international chefs, as well as breweries, cideries and wineries will use local and sustainable ingredients to prepare unique recipes. On a side note, chefs will use 300 lbs of donated misshaped organic veggies from Pfenning’s Farms that didn’t make it to the grocery store.

Purchase food tickets at the Green Living Show Box Office on the main floor and upstairs in the Delicious Local Food & Drink Pavilion. Dishes are $4 and under.
