Our backyard is a place of refuge for me. As someone who works from home, I love to escape into the backyard for 20-30 minutes during the day to rejuvenate myself and get in touch with nature. That’s why it’s so important to me to create a relaxing and beautiful environment, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and plants. With that in mind, our backyard patio was in definite need of some tender loving care so when the opportunity to showcase some of Home Depot Canada‘s new backyard products arose, I was excited to jump on board. [Disclosure: I received compensation from Home Depot Canada to purchase the products mentioned in this blog post.]

It’s so important to have enough patio chairs and tables for when family and friends come one. I mean you can’t really ask them to sit on the lawn. That’s why I opted for these products at Home Depot Canada: the Arthur Side Table, $49.99, from Hampton Bay, and the Steel Sling Folding Chair, $39.98, also from Hampton Bay.
The Hampton Bay Arthur Side Table is super stylish and functional. As you can see, I can fit my book, coffee mug, sunglasses and more on the table top while my ceramic herb pot sits comfortably on the bottom shelf. The table is quite easy to assemble as well; it took us only 15 minutes. The glass top fits into the top border and removes easily so that you can wipe it free from leaves and other debris. The Suntastic pillow, Button Sunvalley in Turquoise Mix, $19.91, adds a punch of colour to the patio. I now have a great reading spot on my patio. Want to check out my spring 2017 reading list?

I have always admired tall planters; they look so elegant! I have seen them on my neighbours’ front porches so I thought that a tall planter in our backyard would really spruce things up. The Fairfield Tall Planter, $114, is made from polyurethene and has a 16 gallon soil capacity. Even better, the planter is self-watering so you don’t have to worry if you are away for a few days. We added gravel stones above the self-watering tray insert of the planter to weigh it down and then added a bag of potted soil before planting flowers at the top.

On those hot nights when you want to spend time on the patio, you need a patio lantern, right? These colourful ceramic lanterns, $11.98, from Hampton Bay comes in several colours: Red, Grey, Luxe (lime green) and Haze (turquoise) shown below. I also chose the Indoor Outdoor LED Candle, $5.98, by Hampton Bay to place in the lantern. The flame-free, weather-resistant LED candle has a timer that allows it to turn off at the same time each day after five hours.

A patio is not complete without planter pots. These gorgeous ceramic pots from Home Depot Canada can house your plants, flowers and herbs. Find out about easy herbs to grow in your garden. The ceramic pots pictured range in price from $24.98 for the Studio Pots from Trendspot (left and center) to $11.98 for the Orchid Pot in Flagstone (right) from New England Pottery.
Well, thanks to Home Depot Canada, my backyard is looking much more welcoming. Check out your nearest Home Depot location for patio accessories and furniture.

My husband and I just finished redoing our outdoor patio this spring. You’re right, it’s so nice to have a place that’s relaxing to get away to (I also work from home). Even if it’s 15 minutes to sit and relax with a good book, I feel refreshed and ready to get back at it. ps: I love all of the things you chose for your outdoor space!
Your patio does look very cool. I really need to get some more potted plants to have for the outdoors. I want to grow my garden and love to have beautiful plants in it.
Wow! you have such a nice backyard. I like the things you chose for your outdoor space.
Thank you! I really like the selection at Home Depot! Cheers, Lori
Getting in touch with nature is a great break from staying home all day. I have experienced that same thing when we’re having a long vacation. Sometimes, it’s really nice to redesign your home with plants and flowers in the patio.
I really need to redo my back patio. I like the pop of color you’ve added to give it the rustic feel/look. I certainly could enjoy my mornings sipping coffee and hanging out. Thanks for sharing your post. I wished I had the ability to do DIY projects such as this!
