We’ve had an unseasonably warm September in Toronto, but October is here and the temperature has now dropped. With Thanksgiving coming up shortly, you can bring the fall colours inside by decorating your home with fall decor. Here are a few ideas to add the autumn touch to your home.

This Harvest Pumpkin Blessings Pillow, $45, from Pier 1 Imports, adds instant autumn to your home. The lettering is in fall colours such as orange, rust and gold, spelling out words that are synonymous with fall. This fall-themed pillow looks great on my beige couch and will also look good on a brown, green, gold or even burgundy (for high contrast) couch or chair.

This Autumn Check Tablecloth from Bed, Bath & Beyond will add a pop of autumn colour to your dining room or kitchen table. You won’t need anything else to create an autumn look at your table. Made from a cotton/polyester blend, this fall tablecloth can be machine washed. The tablecloth comes in oblong, square and round sizes and ranges in price from $16.99-$44.99. There is a matching set of four napkins for $19.99.

Updating your tea towel for this autumn-themed Painted Leaves Tea Towel is another way to easily give your kitchen a fall look. Purchase these tea towels for $6 (reg. $12) at Chapters Indigo.

We’ve been spending most of the last few months outside so it can be a shock to move activity indoors for the fall and winter. One thing I like to do to make the transition from summer to fall easier is to bring some of the outdoors inside and this Rock Mat from Abbott Collection helps me do just that. Not only does this mat bring an earthy look to your fall decor, but it provides reflexology benefits when you walk on it in bare feet including improved mental and physical fitness.
Here’s one pot you’ll be happy to place in the center of your autumn dining table. The Staub France ‘Pumpkin’ Cocotte in Cinnamon from Kitchen Stuff Plus is great for making soups or stews or slow-cooking meats and vegetables. The enamel bottom means it can be placed on all stovetops including induction. Don’t you love the whimsical nature of this pot? Made in France, each piece is one of a kind and sure to become a conversation piece at your fall or Thanksgiving table.
Do you add fall decor to your home for autumn?
Love the tea towel with the leaves!
Love the Staub Pumpkin Cocotte, so beautiful.
One of the ideas I really like is the autumn tea towels, how clever of an idea to spice up a space. We usually add scented candles to a room, my favourite scents so far have been pumpkin and blueberry pie.
I love decorating with pillows. It is so easy to change the mood of a room with different colours and shapes of pillows.
