Remembrance Day Ceremonies at the University of Toronto 2018

The Soldiers’ Tower on the west side of Hart House at the University of Toronto will be the site of Remembrance Day ceremonies on Fri., Nov. 9, 2018 from 10:20 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Chaplain of Knox and Victoria Colleges will preside over the service, which includes a reading of “In Flanders Field,” which was written by John McCrae, alumnus of University College. This will be followed by the laying of wreaths, singing of hymns and the playing of The Last Post, The Lament, Reveille and the Royal and National Anthems. A reception will follow in the Great Hall at Hart House at 11 a.m. Reception is open to the public. The Soldiers’ Tower is located at 7 Hart House Circle. The Memorial Room inside the Soldiers’ Tower will also be open to visitors on Sunday November 11, 2018, with activities including a special carillon performance. Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Casa Loma 2018

Casa Loma will be hosting a Remembrance Day program with the Queen’s Own Rifles on Sat., Nov. 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including military displays, photos with uniformed officers, guest lecturers, guided tour and children’s activities. Active and retired military personnel receive free admission with valid military ID. Tickets can be purchased online or on site at the Box Office.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Fort York 2018

Remembrance Day Ceremonies take place at Fort York National Historic Site, Strachan Avenue Military Cemetery on Garrison Common, 250 Fort York Boulevard. include a processional parade with fife and drum on Sun., Nov. 11, 2018. The procession, led by period uniformed military staff and standard bearers of the IODE, begins at the west gate at 10:45 a.m. It will proceed to the Strachan Avenue Military Cemetery where at 11 a.m., all soldiers of the Toronto Garrison who fell in the War of 1812, the Rebellion Crises, the Crimean War, Northwest Rebellion, South African (Boer) War, the two World Wars, and recent conflicts around the globe will be remembered and honoured. There is free admission to Fort York until noon.

  1. Sunnybrook Hospital has a special Remembrance Day service on November 11th in Warriors Hall. They run “operation raise a flag” each year in support of our veterans

  2. Remembrance Day is so important to me. I discussed why we have Remembrance Day with my boys and they were so interested. I’m so happy that they wanted to learn about it.
