We haven’t even had spring weather in Toronto yet, but in just over a month, it will be the Victoria Day Weekend! This year, the May long weekend is May 19-21, 2018. I always consider the Victoria Day weekend as the unofficial start of summer and let’s hope the weather cooperates. Come From Away at the Royal Alexandra Theatre
Come From Away comes directly from Broadway to the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Tony-Award-winning musical is in Toronto from February 13, 2018 to October 21, 2018, with a few tickets remaining for the Victoria Day weekend. Performances on the May long weekend are on Fri., May 18, 2018 at 8 p.m., Sat., May 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sun., May 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. The musical focuses on the grounding of several planes on 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland and the way the town opened their homes and hearts to stranded passengers. Tickets are $149, $119, $99, $79 and $49 and can be purchased online.

Artfest at the Distillery
If you have shopping to do for graduations, showers or weddings, you’ll want to head down to the Distillery District to check out Artfest at the Distillery. The arts and craft show will be taking place throughout the Victoria Day weekend. You’ll find jewellery, clothes, art, photography, sculpture, fine crafts and enjoy live music while shopping. Artfest at the Distillery is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 19-21, 2018. Entrance to the event is free. The Distillery District is located at 55 Mill Street.
Spring Beerfest TO
Enjoy the Spring Beerfest TO at Fort York Garrison Common on May 19-20, 2018 of the Victoria Day Weekend in Toronto. This event will be one of the most popular Victoria Day Weekend events in Toronto 2018. Enjoy food, beer and games including volleyball, bocce, cornhole, giant connect 4 and giant jenga. Beer and food vendors to be announced. Live music performances to be announced. Tickets, which go on sale on April 10, 2018, are $35 and can be purchased online. Tickets include 5 sampling tokens and a commemorative sampling mug. Fort York Garrison Common is located at 250 Fort York Blvd. Spring Beerfest TO hours are Sat., May 19, 2018 and Sun., May 20, 2018 from noon to 7 p.m.
Fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park
Fireworks will take place on Victoria Day, Monday, May 21, 2018 beginning at 9:45 p.m. and running for 14 minutes at Ashbridges Bay Park. TTC service will be increased between Queen Street East and the Bloor-Danforth subway on the Coxwell (22A), Main (64) and Woodbine South (92A) to accommodate visitors on May 21, 2018. There is limited parking near the event. A special viewing area with limited space is available to accommodate people with disabilities and their families.

Tastemaker Event at Evergreen Brick Works
Tastemaker will feature three sessions on May 18 and 19, 2018 in the historic Kiln building at Evergreen Brick Works. Tickets are $60 and include all food and drink samples for your session. Choose from the following sessions:
Friday, May 18, 2018, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
The Friday evening session will feature the following Chef Collaborations:
- Afrim Pristine of Cheese Boutique and Devin Connell of Delica Kitchen
- Michael Hunter of Antler Kitchen & Bar and Vikram Vij of Vij’s

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Oakland Athletics
The Toronto Blue Jays host the Oakland Athletics at the Rogers Centre on Victoria Day Weekend. Game times are Friday, May 18, 2018 at 7:07 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:07 p.m., and Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 1:07 p.m. This is Jr. Jays Weekend with special events for kids 14 and under including the Jr. Jays Zones on the 100, 200 and 500 levels. After the game, kids can run the bases. Line-up begins in the 8th inning at sections 108, 208 and 508. Purchase Toronto Blue Jays tickets online.
Veggielicious
Veggielicious runs from May 4-21, 2018 at restaurants and bakeries in Toronto. You’ll be able to visit select Toronto restaurants to enjoy prix-fixe vegetarians menus and plant-based offerings. Some of the restaurants participating include Disgraceland, Tabule, Bombay Palace, B.Good, Southern Accent, The Kathi Roll Express, Bloomers, Kamasutra, Harvest Kitchen, Govinda’s, Yamchops, Vegetarian Haven, Magic Oven, Rawlicious and Fresh.
