The cosmetic industry is very competitive. If you’re like me, walking into Sephora or my local beautyBOUTIQUE can be very confusing so I usually gravitate to the brands I have used. I have been to several media events recently and have been introduced to many new great skincare and makeup brands. I thought I would share my five favourite beauty products for summer 2018 with you so that you can check them out for yourself.
Alitura Gold Serum
I’m of the age where the wrinkles are showing and my skin is starting to sag. So my ears perk up when I hear that a product is anti-aging. Alitura Gold Serum, (US$79 for 50 ml) offers many anti-aging benefits including strengthening the collagen layer to improve your skin’s elasticity, reducing the size of wrinkles and eradicating free radicals in skin layers to produce a more vital looking skin. This serum also reduces the appearance of dark circles. Some of Alitura Gold Serum’s key ingredients include Marine Collagen, Vitanol, which is a plant-derived Vitamin A to reduce fine lines, Copper Tripeptide to improve elasticity, and Co Q10 – this coenzyme is found naturally in the body and acts as an antioxidant. The gold serum is contained in a Miron glass bottle, which helps preserve ingredients so there is no need for toxic preservatives. Purchase Alitura Gold Serum online.
Paul & Joe Limited Edition Face and Eye Color in French Pop
I love the novel face and eye color palettes from Paul & Joe. When it’s closed, the palette looks like a mini record and when you open it up, it reveals a vibrant palette that can be used on cheeks and eyes. The French Pop set, $41, includes three shades: Petal Pink, Pop Pink and Spring Coral. Each of these colours look good on my green eyes and I love the easy way these highly-pigmented colours apply to the eyelid to create a very minimalist, sleek look. I didn’t try them on my cheeks since I have rosacea and don’t need any extra colour on my face! Each palette contains about 30 uses. Purchase at beautyBOUTIQUE.
Korres Black Pine 3D Sculpting & Firming Sleeping Oil
I am new to using Korres products, but their Black Pine 3D Sculpting & Firming Sleeping Oil has quickly become a favourite of mine. First of all, I love earthy scents so my body is perfectly in sync with the black pine essence. But what I love about this sleeping oil is it immediately absorbs into my skin once I apply it so that it doesn’t leave a greasy residue on your pillowcase. After using Black Pine 3D Sculpting and Firming Sleeping Oil, my skin feels smooth in the morning. Korres began in a Greek homeopathic pharmacy in 1996. The company is committed to including as many natural ingredients as possible, as well as medicinal herbs, food and natural actives. You will not find mineral oil, parabens, silicones, propylene glycol, petrolatum, parafin wax or ethanolamines in Korres products. You can purchase Korres Black Pine 3D Sculpting & Firming Sleeping Oil for $88 (30 ml) at beautyBOUTIQUE.
Ultimate Beach Night Fragrance by Clean Perfumes
Ultimate Beach Night Fragrance by Clean Perfume is just that. The citrusy top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Orange; middle notes of Jasmine, Tuberose, Lilac, Lavender, Neroli, Violet Leaf and Bougainvillea and base notes of Ambergris, White Musk and Burnt Smoky Driftwood all come together to create a fragrance that encompasses the heady floral essences of summer and the woodsy notes of the cottage. This perfume was love-at-first-smell for me, which is rare…I usually have to wear a perfume for several hours or even days before I decide whether I like it. Clean Perfumes are vegan and paraben free, phthalate free, sulfate free, aluminum free, cruelty free, dye free, gluten free, mineral oil free, and silicone free. Clean Perfume’s Ultimate Beach Night Fragrance is $95 (2.14 oz). You can purchase Ultimate Beach Night Fragrance at Sephora.
Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Wanderlust
Stila’s new Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Wanderlust, $31, is one of my favourite beauty products for summer 2018 because it’s a sheer gold and pink sparkle. Wanderlust is a great shade for summer since it is subtle, yet still adds some sparkle to your eyelids. You can definitely wear this eyeshadow during the day. The gold and pink shade can be worn with many pastels or summer shades of bright pink, gold, yellow, khaki and even white. Purchase Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Wanderlust at Sephora or beautyBoutique.
