As I have been eating more natural and organic foods, I have also switched to using natural skincare products. It just seems logical that if I am concerned about what I put in my body, I should be just as concerned about what I put on my skin, since skincare products are absorbed by our organs. Always on the lookout for new green beauty products, I was excited to be invited to learn about Veriphy Skincare, a new green beauty brand. [Disclosure: I was provided with the Veriphy Skincare line of natural skincare products on a complimentary basis in order to write this post.]
Veriphy Skincare is a new Canadian skincare brand created by a team of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This green beauty product line does not contain sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, silicones or fragrance. The most distinguishing feature of Veriphy Skincare is the fact that it uses PhytoSpherix, a form of glycogen that is 100% plant based. Many beauty products use glycogen derived from shellfish and this can cause problems for people who are allergic to seafood or for vegans. The team conducted a slew of research that demonstrated that PhytoSpherix helps skin produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which keep skin looking firm and plump. I’m all in favour of any natural product that can increase collagen for its anti-aging effects! The researchers also found that PhytoSpherix leads to a dramatic increase in hydration and reduced hyperpigmentation.
I’ve been using the Self Absorbed Facial Moisturizer, Power Trip Facial Serum and 20/20 Eye Cream – don’t you love the product names?! – for two weeks and am happy with the results so far. I really don’t like putting heavy creams on my face so I was pleased to find that all three products feature a light texture.
Power Trip Facial Serum ($105 for 30 ml) includes Lactic Acid and PhytoSpherix. This serum exfoliates skin to reveal a radiant complexion. It also contains Arnica and Calendula to calm skin. Calming features are something I look for in natural skincare products because I have rosacea. This serum is so light that it quickly absorbs into my skin. I apply it at night before bed. I have definitely noticed that my skin is less red after I use it.
I also apply the 20/20 Eye Cream ($82 for 15 ml) under my eyes before I go to bed. As previously mentioned, this is a light cream and it doesn’t irritate my eyes while I’m sleeping. It contains cucumber, peptides and niacinamide to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and puffiness. Who doesn’t want that?? I notice that my eyes are less puffy in the morning after using this eye cream although I still have faint dark circles so I will continue to use the eye cream with the hope that my dark circles will be mitigated.
The Self Absorbed Facial Moisturizer ($85 for 50 ml) contains in addition to PhytoSpherix and Hyaluronic Acid, algae, green tea and licorice root extracts, as well as avocado oil.
Because we’ve had some temperatures in the high 30s over the past two weeks, I have been using the Self Absorbed Facial Moisturizer only on days that are not so humid since I find my face perspires if I wear moisturizer when it’s too hot. I do like the light weight of the Self Absorbed moisturizer – it doesn’t feel like it’s clogging up my pores. With the cooler weather coming, I’ll be wearing this moisturizer every day.
I’m very pleased with the results from the Veriphy Skincare products, which are produced in Guelph, Ontario. You can purchase their products on the Veriphy Skincare website. Shipping is free if your purchase is a minimum of $100 not including taxes.
