With September 5, 2019 marking the beginning of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), film lovers will be flocking to Toronto to enjoy the many sights and sounds of this much-loved festival. If you’re a film buff and want to show your love for TIFF, here are some ways you can celebrate TIFF and make the most out of the annual event.
Get Your Very Own Custom T-Shirt
Show off your love for your favourite movie with a custom t-shirt that’s been especially printed for you. Indie films don’t typically have their own merchandise that fans can buy, which is why you will need to look for t-shirt printing in Toronto to get your own unique shirt made. Choose your favourite scene or quote from a movie you love, and your shirt will make a great conversation starter when you’re out and about enjoying the festival.
Organize a Movie Night
Get together with friends to celebrate TIFF by enjoying a night at home with all your favourite flicks. Get some movie-themed snacks like popcorn, candy, and pop, and get cozy as you all share in the experience of watching a truly good film. If you haven’t seen the movies from last year’s TIFF, you might want to watch A Star Is Born, Green Book, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Sisters Brothers or Widows.
Plan Which Movies You Want To See
Whether or not you’re going with friends or alone, you have to plan which movies you want to see in advance. If you haven’t already got a ticket for a film and it is sold out online, you can try and score rush tickets. There are often rush seats available for sale at each venue 10 minutes before the film begins.
There are always so many great films to see at TIFF that you’ll want to make sure you’re using your time wisely so that you get a chance to see as many films as you can.

Go Stargazing at TIFF
Celebrities flock to Toronto during TIFF, so now is your opportunity to see one up close. This year, you can expect to see Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Jamie Dornan, Nicole Kidman, Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne, and Kristen Stewart, who are all staring in movies that have showings at TIFF this year. Other hopeful attendees include Jennifer Lopez, Brie Larson, Jamie Foxx, Kate Winslet, and Nick Jonas. The most likely places to spot celebrities are on the red carpet at TIFF galas. Other places include Toronto restaurants that are hosting TIFF 2019 parties including, Sofia, Montecito, MARBL, Astor Lounge at the St. Regis, La Banane and Figo. You might also want to hunker down near the entrances of Toronto hotels such as the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, InterContinental Toronto Centre, Shangri-La Hotel Toronto, The Ritz Carlton Toronto and The Hazelton Hotel where celebrities are known to stay during TIFF. But stars will show up in the most unexpected places. Tom Hanks showed up at Grinder Coffee on Gerrard St. E. in Toronto’s Little India in response to the indie cafe owner’s ad campaign.

Take a Stroll along King Street West
From September 5 to 8, 2019, King Street West between Peter Street and University Avenue will be temporarily converted into a pedestrian promenade where festival-goers can enjoy live music, free screenings, and food trucks. Bring your friends and family, take lots of pictures, and experience the city in perfect end-of-summer weather!
Lots To See at TIFF
No matter how you decide to celebrate TIFF this year, make sure to set aside some time to get out there and enjoy. There’s so much to do and so many highly-anticipated films to see such as Hustlers, Lucy in the Sky, The Burnt Orange Heresy, Human Capital, American Son, Guns Akimbo and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, to name a few that you don’t want to miss out this year. So put on your custom t-shirt and enjoy the festival vibe!
